The Nucleus

Nucleus

The nucleus contains the cellular DNA. The inactive form of chromatin is the heterochromatin (arrow) and the active form is the euchromatin. In cells with a high level of activity, the euchromatin is increased.

The nucleus in this cell contains a compact nucleolus (N). Nucleoli are often large, pleomorphic and multiple in neoplastic cells. Nucleoli are rich in RNA.
